Hotronix Offers New Auto Open Clam Press

Hotronix, a GroupeStahl company, has been busy developing new machines that will make it faster and easier to increase your shop's heat-applied printing productivity. One of its newest presses, the STX Auto Clam 6 x6 is just one example. This new press features the latest electronic magnetic technology that allows it to pop open at the end of a cycle without the need for an air compressor. With its 6" x 6" platen, it functions as a baby sister to the 16" x 20" inch auto open clam, which was the first of this new auto opening series.

The new STX Auto Clam 6" x 6" press is designed for specialty jobs that don't require a full-size platen. It's great for pockets, sleeves, collars, napkins, or apparel where you want to apply a graphic or logo in an unusual place such as the bottom hem of a shirt, shorts, sweat pants, etc. With the 6" x 6" you can do these smaller jobs without tying up the bigger press.

The STX Auto Clam 6" x 6" has a magnetic assist lockdown, which requires less muscle from the operator to close the press. The digital controls are set for time and temperature, and when the time is up, the press automatically pops open so the operator can be doing something else without standing right by the press.

This press is loaded with special features that ensure consistent, reliable heat printing with little opportunity for errors. It has an under-center pressure adjustment, a 3/4" upper floatation heat platen, a Teflon-coated heater that is stress relieved to prevent warping, and cast-in tubular elements every 2 inches to ensure there are no cold spots.

The 3/6" laser-quality steel framework provides seamless technology. There also are heavy-duty pin and bushing pivot points, a wide opening for easy layout of heat-applied materials, and a platinum resistive temperature device (RTD) heat probe that reads platen temperature to within 2 degrees. It is CE/NRTLCO approved and comes in 110v or 220v models.

It features a space-saving clam-shell design, a quick-change lower platen, and a 3/8" silicone pad on the lower platen. There also is a 999 second dwell time. The warranty is a testimony to the durability of this press. There is a lifetime warranty on the heating element, a five-year warranty on the framework, a two-year warranty on the circuit board, and a one-year warranty on parts and labor. And it only weighs 39 pounds.
